Thread grinding is a complex and expensive process used to process precision threads of measuring and cutting tools (taps, thread cutters, calibers, etc.) after their thermal hardening. To solve this problem, our company developed a thread grinding machine with numerical control VZ-681F4-01, designed for grinding external screw surfaces with a single-grinding wheel. The constructive implementation of the semi-automatic machine, in conjunction with software solutions, allows the processing of the profile of the turns of the worms, threads, and also to solve special tasks.

The thread grinding machine VZ-681F4-01 is developed on the basis of the machine VZ-681F4 and differs from it with the following parameters:

  • The maximum size of the workpiece to be installed is increased from 500 to 1000 mm;
  • The maximum size of the treated surface is increased from 400 to 900 mm;
  • The maximum weight of the workpiece is increased from 50 to 100 kg.

The semiautomatic machine is executed in a horizontal configuration. On the basis of mounted a table moving in the longitudinal direction. On the table are fixed: the head of the product, the back presser and the mechanism of automatic dressing of the circle. The shaft of the grinding head is fixed to the thrust-radial precision bearing and is equipped with a rotation angle sensor.

Semi-automatic machine is equipped with CNC SINUMERIK 840Dsl, which provides:

  • The highest accuracy of control, uninterrupted and reliable operation;
  • The possibility of using an open programming system G-code;
  • Control of the positioning of axes - implementation of any movement using interpolation;
  • The possibility of interaction with a computer of the highest rank.

Using the G-code (ISO-7 bit) programming environment allows the user to develop their own control programs or use programs created by the system of preparation of control programs (SPM), developed by our company. The software provides full-screen display of all parameters and messages necessary for the operator to observe the processing process.
